The Delhi Pollution Control Committee has intensified actions against illegal jeans dyeing factories in the national capital, according to a recent report to the National Green Tribunal. Inspections were carried out at 18 locations in Meethapur and four in Khyala to address environmental concerns.
The report reveals that a joint team, including members from Delhi Police, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, and the Delhi Jal Board, found no ongoing dyeing operations at 10 places in Meethapur, while six sites were already sealed, and one was located in Haryana. In Khyala, three places showed no illegal activity, and one was sealed.
This initiative follows a DPCC order from June instructing immediate closure of all polluting jeans dyeing factories operating outside approved areas. Compliance measures by the MCD have reinforced these mandates, targeting the closure of polluting units, especially within non-conforming zones of Delhi.
