India and China have made notable progress in restoring peace along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), with a mutual agreement regarding the ground situation. This development follows extensive diplomatic and military negotiations, according to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Addressing the Chanakya Defence Dialogue 2024, Singh emphasized the significance of ongoing dialogue in resolving bilateral issues, characterizing the recent agreement as a 'significant development' for global defence strategies. The consensus allows for resumed patrolling and livestock grazing in traditional areas, highlighting diplomatic cooperation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping have both approved the new agreement, which was confirmed during their meeting at the BRICS Summit. The leaders stressed the importance of managing disputes constructively to maintain peace and called for the revival of dialogue mechanisms to strengthen bilateral ties post-2020 military tensions.
