North Korean Troops in Russia: Unveiling the Alleged Military Support
The United States reports evidence of North Korean troops in Russia, with South Korean lawmakers estimating around 3,000 soldiers sent to support Kremlin's war in Ukraine, and more expected. North Korea allegedly plans to deploy 10,000 troops by December to aid Russia, amid rising international concerns.
The United States has, for the first time, confirmed evidence of North Korean troops in Russia. South Korean lawmakers revealed approximately 3,000 soldiers have been dispatched, supporting Russia's war efforts in Ukraine. U.S. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin warned of the seriousness if these troops engage in combat operations alongside Russian forces.
North Korea intends to fulfill a promised deployment of around 10,000 troops by December, as reported by South Korea's national intelligence agency. Lawmakers highlighted evidence of troop training within North Korean facilities before their transfer to Russia. The move has sparked international discussions and concerns over military collaborations between Russia and North Korea.
Both Moscow and Pyongyang dismiss claims of troop deployment as rumors, although they confirm intentions to enhance military ties. Meanwhile, NATO and global powers scrutinize the situation, with South Korea hinting at potentially supplying weapons to Ukraine if the deployment is validated. The German foreign ministry has also expressed its apprehension regarding this development.
