Ex-MLA's Arrest Unveils Deep-Rooted Drug Trafficking Networks

In a significant crackdown on drug smuggling, a former Congress MLA, now affiliated with the BJP, and her nephew have been apprehended in Mohali's Kharar area, the Punjab Police disclosed on Wednesday. The duo, ex-MLA Satkar Kaur and Jaskeerat Singh, were caught in possession of 128 grams of heroin.

The arrest follows an extensive investigation by the anti-narcotics task force, which acted on credible intelligence about Kaur's alleged involvement in drug trafficking. Evidence provided by reliable sources, including call recordings, prompted police to plan a sting operation that led to the arrests.

The operation took a dramatic turn when Jaskeerat Singh attempted to flee the scene, injuring a policeman in the process. Punjab Police seized additional contraband and evidence, further implicating the former legislator. AAP leaders have criticized political parties for their alleged complicity in drug smuggling activities in Punjab.
