Policeman Arrested for Extortion in Fake Drug Case

A Nagpur policeman, Sachin Meshram, was arrested for extorting Rs 10 lakh from a beautician by falsely implicating her in a drug case involving a senior officer. Meshram initially demanded Rs 12 lakh but settled for Rs 10 lakh. The scam unraveled after the victim approached Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Madne.

In a startling twist, Nagpur Police apprehended one of their own on allegations of extortion. The cop, Sachin Meshram, stands accused of extracting Rs 10 lakh from a beautician under the pretense of a fabricated drug case.

Meshram allegedly used the reputation of a senior police officer to intimidate the woman, demanding Rs 20 lakh initially, albeit settling for Rs 10 lakh. His arrest came after the victim reported the extortion to Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Madne, bringing the illicit scheme to light.

The extortion was linked to a prior drug smuggling arrest involving Sojal Dumre, whose name apparently emerged in the faux accusations against the beautician. The investigation continues as authorities search for Meshram's accomplice, who remains at large.
