A man has been charged in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, for allegedly stalking and molesting a young schoolgirl, according to a police official. Safiullah Matiullah Ansari, 22, was accused of the crime, with the case registered at Shantinagar police station earlier this week.
On October 19, the accused reportedly confronted the 12-year-old victim at her school's playground and touched her inappropriately. A few days later, he followed the girl as she returned home from school with her aunts and engaged in further harassment.
After the girl's family lodged a complaint, the case was booked under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The investigation continues.
