Sectarian tensions in Himachal Pradesh are intensifying, as highlighted by senior advocate Prashant Bhushan. The northern state's ongoing Hindu-Muslim confrontations, primarily focused on a mosque in Sanjauli, are becoming a broader issue, raising concerns about communal politics infiltrating the Congress party.
At a fact-finding report launch, Bhushan criticized the spread of communalism, urging Rahul Gandhi to address opportunistic communal elements within the Congress. He warned that ignoring internal communal tendencies for short-term electoral gains is detrimental to the party's integrity.
Meanwhile, former deputy mayor of Shimla Tikender Singh Panwar pointed to historical migrations as the backbone of Himachal's demographic makeup, warning that recent divisive agendas exacerbate fragility in the state's social fabric. Reports criticize Congress leaders for failing to address mounting tensions, noting the vulnerability of the Muslim community amid escalating violence.
