Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has issued a call to action for all MLAs to visit their constituencies and coordinate necessary rescue operations, as Cyclone Dana looms over the state. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of legislative action across party lines to stand in solidarity with the people.
According to Mrutunjay Mohapatra, Director General of the India Meteorological Department, the depression over the Bay of Bengal is set to intensify into a severe cyclone. This system is projected to cross between Odisha's Puri and West Bengal's Sagar Island during the early hours of October 25, bringing wind speeds of 100-110 kmph, potentially gusting up to 120 kmph.
On social media platform X, Majhi reiterated the need for MLAs to remain present in their constituencies to effectively engage with relief operations. The state administration aims for complete evacuation of vulnerable areas and has readied about 800 cyclone shelters. The IMD forecasts that 14 out of Odisha's 30 districts will face significant impact.
