President Droupadi Murmu's anticipated three-day visit to Odisha has been deferred as a looming cyclone approaches the state's coastline, expected to make landfall on October 25. The President had planned to visit a number of sites, including Bangriposi, Uparbeda, Rairangpur, Puri, and Bhubaneswar.
A communication from the President's secretariat to the Odisha chief secretary confirmed the postponement, citing 'unavoidable circumstances' as the reason behind rescheduling the visit initially set between October 23 and 25, 2024.
The visit agenda included inaugurating new railway infrastructure and participating in significant local events, such as attending the 75th anniversary of Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya and the 40th convocation of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology.
