In a significant breakthrough against cybercrime, Gurugram police have apprehended 24 individuals accused of cyber fraud, allegedly duping victims of Rs 16.77 crore nationwide, as reported on Monday.

According to ACP Cyber Priyanshu Dewan, the suspects orchestrated scams by impersonating fake FedEx officers and made false promises of high returns on stock market investments. A total of 4,568 complaints and 189 cases have been filed across the nation, with 14 cases registered in Haryana, including three in Gurugram.

The police managed to recover Rs 60.91 lakh in cash, a money counting machine, and nine mobile phones from the suspects. Investigations are ongoing, informed the authorities, following insights from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C).
