A Delhi court is poised to announce the sentencing for AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal, who was found guilty of abetting the 2020 suicide of a south Delhi doctor, on November 29. The court had initially scheduled arguments on Monday but adjourned the session after learning that Jarwal had filed an appeal against his conviction.

The case centers around the death of Dr. Rajendra Singh, a 52-year-old physician, who died by suicide on April 18, 2020, in Durga Vihar. The court concluded that the prosecution successfully proved Jarwal's involvement beyond a reasonable doubt and held him accountable for several charges, including abetment to suicide, criminal conspiracy, extortion, and criminal intimidation.

Dr. Singh, in his suicide note, accused Jarwal of driving him to take his own life, prompting the police to register a case against the MLA. The court's determination will be closely watched as Jarwal seeks to reverse the guilty verdict ahead of the impending sentencing.
