The National Green Tribunal has demanded responses from the Uttar Pradesh government and other parties over accusations against a local meat processing company. India Frozen Foods Pvt Ltd allegedly dumped industrial waste, including animal blood and debris, into the Sot River, an offshoot of the Ganga River, alarming environmental activists.

During a recent hearing, NGT Chairperson Prakash Shrivastava and his panel underscored the substantial environmental concerns brought forth by the plea. The complaint asserts that the factory's bio-filter unit is non-functional, making the surrounding area reek of waste, with the company slaughtering more than twice its authorized capacity.

The tribunal has requested responses from the accused parties, including the state's pollution control board and the district magistrate. Further proceedings are scheduled for January 14, as the tribunal seeks to ensure adherence to environmental norms.
