Two self-loading rifles, believed to have been hidden by Maoists, were discovered in a forest in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district, authorities revealed on Sunday.
The discovery was based on intelligence suggesting that Maoists had concealed the weapons following an armed encounter with security forces in May, confirmed SP Ashutosh Shekhar.
The operation, conducted between Ladurudih and Surugada villages in the Karaikela police station area, involved a joint task force comprising the CRPF's 157 Battalion, the Special Assault Team, and the district armed police. The search for additional weaponry continues.
