A Gurugram court has handed a rigorous imprisonment sentence of three and a half years to a man found guilty of molesting and threatening his 15-year-old stepdaughter, a case that dates back four years. The sentencing follows a thorough police investigation.

The conviction was pronounced by Additional Sessions Judge Ashwani Kumar, who also imposed a fine of Rs 55,000 on the accused. The legal proceedings followed a complaint registered at the Sector 56 police station in September 2020.

The police swiftly acted upon the complaint, registering a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Indian Penal Code. The accused was arrested the next day, and a chargesheet was filed with evidence and witness statements supporting the case.
