An octogenarian woman and her daughter have been found dead in their apartment in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, in what police suspect was a botched robbery attempt. The incident took place at the Garden Homes Society under the jurisdiction of the University police station.
Reena Bhalla, 56, lived with her 81-year-old mother, Indu Puri, in flat 322. The discovery was made by their maid, who arrived for work on Tuesday morning to find the bodies and promptly alerted neighbors and police, according to Gwalior Range Inspector General (IG) Arvind Saxena.
A forensic team accompanied the police to the scene, where the mother's body was found on the floor and her daughter's on the bed. Visible marks on their faces and necks suggested a struggle had occurred. Investigations revealed the house had been searched for valuables, leading police to suspect robbery. The bodies are being sent for post-mortem examination, while CCTV footage is under review as part of the ongoing investigation.
