Supreme Court Urges Swift Action in Healthcare Safety Task Force

The Supreme Court has expressed its dissatisfaction with the slow progress of the National Task Force (NTF), established to develop safety protocols for healthcare professionals. On Tuesday, the bench led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud emphasized the urgency of the task.
Initial meetings took place on August 27, forming four sub-groups to address infrastructure, security, working conditions, and the legal framework. However, the apex court noted the absence of subsequent meetings beyond September 9.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta assured the court of ongoing efforts and highlighted the complexity of the NTF's work. Despite this, the court urged for expedited progress, emphasizing proactive steps by the Union for timely completion.
