Mohammad Yasin Akhtar, a suspect in the tragic murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, is under scrutiny as he faces nine serious criminal cases, including murder charges. Akhtar, hailing from Shankar village in Jalandhar, has been linked to notorious gangster Vikram Brar, raising alarms within law enforcement circles.
The Punjab Police highlighted Akhtar's extensive criminal record, which includes grave charges ranging from murder to dacoity. Two of these cases have been lodged in Kaithal, Haryana. The authorities had previously detained Akhtar in June 2022, and he has remained elusive since his recent release in June 2024, avoiding his native village.
The investigation into Baba Siddique's murder has seen significant developments. While Akhtar remains at large, the Mumbai Police have detained two alleged accomplices, Haryana's Gurmail Baljit Singh and Uttar Pradesh's Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap. Meanwhile, Akhtar's family residence was found locked, with his father and brother unable to be located, adding mystery to the case.
