On Monday, opposition MPs staged a boycott at a parliamentary committee meeting focused on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, accusing the panel of operating outside of established rules. The protest was led by notable MPs including Congress's Gaurav Gogoi and Imran Masood, DMK's A Raja, and AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi.

The decision to boycott was fueled by accusations that individuals appearing before the committee made personal allegations against senior opposition leaders such as Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. ACP's Arvind Sawant voiced strong objections, claiming the committee was in violation of procedural norms.

In response, opposition leaders convened a separate meeting to strategize their next move, with some considering an appeal to the Lok Sabha speaker. Despite the boycott, the committee, under BJP MP Jagdambika Pal, pressed on with its agenda.
