The central government is facing criticism from both treasury and opposition benches in the Kerala assembly for failing to provide financial assistance for the rehabilitation of Wayanad's landslide survivors, even months after PM Narendra Modi's visit.

During an adjournment motion discussion, the CPI(M)-led LDF and the opposition UDF jointly criticized the Prime Minister, accusing him of visiting the disaster site for mere photo opportunities. The UDF, which initiated the motion, and the LDF both argued that in a federal democratic system, it is the central government's moral duty to support states in rehabilitation efforts during natural disasters.

T Siddique, Congress MLA, highlighted that PM Modi had visited the affected regions, met survivors, and promised support, but to date, no central funds have been allocated for rehabilitation, despite the massive destruction amounting to several crores. Former Health Minister K K Shailaja emphasized the need for united protests against ongoing neglect by the Centre.
