The National Investigation Agency has apprehended two individuals as part of an ongoing probe into an arms supply network allegedly linked to the banned CPI (Maoist) in Chhattisgarh. Officials confirmed the arrest of Sudhir Tripathi and Suraj Nishad from Prayagraj on Friday.

This development brings the total number of arrests in this case to six, following four earlier detentions in January 2023. Those arrests also led to the seizure of arms and ammunition, initially by local police who registered the case under various legal sections, including the Arms Act, UA(P)A, and IPC.

The NIA investigation revealed that Sudhir and Suraj were allegedly involved in supplying arms from Uttar Pradesh to Maoist cadres in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region. Their regular communication and collaborative efforts to support the banned outfit's logistics were also exposed, underscoring ongoing investigative steps.
