The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) reported that the masterminds, Muhammad Hussain and Ayaz K, alongside other prisoners, were being transferred between jails due to heightened security threats. During the transfer, unknown assailants targeted their police convoy, aiming to free them.

The culprits, shot by their accomplices, were under life imprisonment for their roles in the attack. The CTD officers present at the scene emerged unscathed.
