A jeweller, on the run for over a year after allegedly defrauding customers in Maharashtra's Palghar district, has been apprehended in Madhya Pradesh, according to a statement from the police on Friday.
Identified as Kanaram Dalaram Chowdhari from Rajasthan, and Hotesh Shantilal Dholakia from Gujarat, the two jewellers reportedly swindled customers out of Rs 1.38 crore between January 2022 and May 2023, as confirmed by Palghar Superintendent of Police Balasaheb Patil.
While Dholakia was arrested in 2023, Chowdhari remained at large until a recent tip-off led to his capture in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Authorities have recovered Rs 17.71 lakh from him, with further investigations currently in progress.
