China's anti-espionage agency has issued a warning to its citizens, highlighting the growing threat of foreign spy agencies utilizing idle network devices to orchestrate cyberattacks against Chinese companies. The Ministry of State Security (MSS) reported these alarming trends on social media platform WeChat.

According to the MSS, dormant equipment such as servers and cameras, left unused by firms, have been targeted by foreign entities. Such equipment is being co-opted for espionage purposes, drawing significant concern over data leaks and cyber threats.

The agency has encouraged organizations to bolster cybersecurity measures and work closely with national security to prevent espionage. China has faced international accusations of similar cyber activities, which it denies, while pointing fingers at the US and allies for allegedly conducting cyber operations against it.
