In a swift development, Pune police have apprehended one of the three men accused of the heinous rape of a 21-year-old woman on the city's outskirts last week, local officials confirmed on Friday.
The horrifying incident occurred on October 3 in Bopdev Ghat, where the victim was assaulted by the suspects while she was accompanied by a male friend, who was also beaten up, according to the complaint.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised the police for their diligent efforts, revealing that 700 personnel were involved in tracing the culprits. One suspect has been arrested, while a massive manhunt continues for the remaining two. A reward of Rs 10 lakh was offered for information leading to their capture.
