British police announced on Friday the recording of 40 fresh allegations against former Harrods owner, Mohamed Al Fayed, following accusations of sexual abuse and rape featured in a BBC documentary.
Last month, the police encouraged anyone with claims against Al Fayed to come forward, expressing intentions to prosecute others involved. "Numerous pieces of information have been presented to us since the documentary aired, concerning both Mohamed Al Fayed and others," stated Stephen Clayman, head of specialist crime at London's Metropolitan Police.
The new allegations encompass 40 victims, covering serious offences such as sexual assault and rape, reportedly occurring between 1979 and 2013, according to Friday's police statement.
