A bogus doctor and an untrained nurse were apprehended after a newborn girl, found abandoned by the roadside, tragically died. The incident occurred on Thursday, as confirmed by police authorities.

The police have also arrested a woman who allegedly sought the help of the accused duo to facilitate the premature delivery of her 17-year-old granddaughter. The newborn, discovered in a sack on Wednesday evening, succumbed on Thursday morning at a government hospital, stated assistant commissioner of police, Suneel Shrivastava.

Inspector Jitendra Garhwal of Aishbagh police station informed PTI that the two suspects, 'jhola-chhap' doctor Surendra Nahar and untrained nurse Firdos, along with the grandmother, have been booked under sections related to abandoning a child and culpable homicide, not amounting to murder. Additional charges are expected as investigations continue.
