The clash unfolded in Lakhimpur Kheri where Verma accused Singh of manhandling him after an argument over torn nomination papers emerged. The altercation, witnessed by many, resulted in a swift response from the BJP hierarchy.
BJP general secretary Govind Narayan Shukla addressed the situation by issuing show-cause notices to Awadhesh Singh, his wife, and two additional individuals, demanding an explanation for their 'indisciplined behaviour' within two days. The cooperative bank election has since been postponed.
