The Delhi government has taken a significant step by increasing the MLA-Local Area Development (LAD) fund from Rs 10 crore to Rs 15 crore. This initiative aims to expedite development projects ahead of the assembly elections set for February 2025.
During a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Atishi, it was highlighted that this allocation is the highest in the country, surpassing other states like Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. Atishi emphasized the importance of the fund in enabling legislators to improve their constituencies.
Urban Development Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj stressed that the increased fund will address infrastructure issues exacerbated by recent heavy rains. The flexibility of the MLA-LAD fund ensures quick action on development needs, benefiting Delhi's residents.
