Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson has welcomed the appointment of Lwazi Mahlangu as the new Deputy Director-General for Governance, Risk and Compliance. This move is part of a broader effort to fill critical vacancies within the department and improve stability and leadership.

Minister Macpherson highlighted the importance of Mahlangu’s role in helping to combat corruption and enhance service delivery, noting his wealth of experience, particularly from his time serving in an acting capacity.

Macpherson, in his first 100 days in office, has implemented a series of reforms aimed at professionalizing the public service within the department. Among these initiatives, Carmen-Joy Abrahams has been appointed as Acting Deputy Director-General of Corporate Services and tasked with conducting a skills audit of senior management to ensure the department has the necessary expertise to fulfil its mandate.

The Minister assured that the department is moving quickly to fill senior roles, with interviews set to begin soon, as part of an ongoing push to stabilize operations and use public assets for the public good.
