In response to intensified conflict in Lebanon, over 1,000 Americans have been evacuated to Turkey via U.S.-chartered flights. In a swift response to escalating conflict in Lebanon, more than 1,000 Americans and their dependents have been evacuated in the past week, arriving in Turkey via U.S.-chartered flights, according to the top American diplomat in Istanbul.
As military tensions rise between Israel and Hezbollah, the United States, alongside other nations, have prioritized citizen safety through commercial and state-booked flights, choosing Turkey as a transit hub. 'It's the fastest, safest way to get Americans out of harm's way,' stated Consul General Julie Eadeh.
While Beirut's airport remains operational, the U.S. is prepared for all contingencies, including sea evacuations, if necessary. Additional troops in Cyprus support these potential efforts, underscoring diplomatic coordination with Turkey and Cyprus for emergency evacuations.
