Wildlife Poaching Ring Busted in Nilgiris

A notorious five-member poaching gang from Kerala was apprehended by the Nilgiris police, authorities announced on Thursday. The group was caught attempting to hunt wild animals in the region.
Their operation was thwarted when they were stopped by police during a routine vehicle check while en route to Avalanche from Udhagamandalam. Upon discovery of weapons and traps in their vehicle, the gang admitted to their intentions to poach.
The police promptly notified the forest department, which verified the gang's criminal activities. Subsequently, a case under the Wildlife Protection Act was filed, and all five men were placed in judicial custody.
