In a significant ruling, a Thane court has sentenced a 45-year-old man to seven years' rigorous imprisonment for molesting an 11-year-old girl in 2019. This decision came after the compelling deposition by the victim, which established the accused's guilt beyond doubt.
The accused, who was already a convict in a previous case of rape involving a minor, had his defense that a family dispute led to his false implication dismissed by the court. Special Judge D S Deshmukh also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
Special Public Prosecutor Sandhya H Mhatre highlighted the accused's criminal history while urging for stringent punishment. The judgment also directed the District Legal Services Authority to ensure appropriate compensation for the victim, underlining the court's commitment to justice for the aggrieved.
