Swedish Police Investigate Shooting Near Israeli Target in Gothenburg
Swedish police are investigating a shooting near an Israeli target in Gothenburg. A suspect, under 15, was detained on the scene. This follows increased security measures around Israeli interests in Sweden, amid escalating gang-related gun violence.
Swedish authorities are probing a recent shooting close to an Israeli location in Gothenburg, linked by national media to defense electronics firm Elbit Systems. The incident saw one young suspect, believed to be under the age of 15, detained on suspicion of attempted murder and serious weapons offenses.
According to local police, there are currently no reports of injuries linked to the event. Investigators state that they have uncovered no concrete threats to other Israeli sites within the Gothenburg area. This comes after heightened security alerts were placed on Israeli and Jewish establishments in Sweden, following suspected gunfire near Israel’s Stockholm embassy earlier this year.
The ongoing wave of firearms-related violence in Sweden has been attributed to conflicts among criminal gangs. However, the police refrained from confirming whether the attack was directly aimed at Elbit Systems or if broader Israeli targets were at risk.
