Cyprus law enforcement on Thursday apprehended eight people under suspicion of financing activities for a terrorist organization in a third nation, official statements revealed.
The early morning raids, concentrated in the towns of Limassol and Paphos, resulted in the detention of seven men and one woman, all holding Syrian nationality.
There is currently no evidence suggesting that those detained intended to conduct any acts of terror on Cypriot soil. Authorities are currently exploring whether the funds were procured through the trafficking of illicit substances.
