In a significant crackdown on illegal drug manufacturing, authorities seized mephedrone worth Rs 25 crore from a factory in Gujarat's Valsad district. The bust led to the arrest of three individuals, as confirmed by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Wednesday.
Based on specific intelligence, DRI teams from Surat and Vapi conducted raids in GIDC industrial estates at Umargam and Dehri. Key to the operation was M/s Saurav Creations, a factory found to be illicitly producing the synthetic stimulant drug mephedrone, officials revealed.
The seizure, conducted under the NDPS Act, 1985, was substantiated by forensic tests confirming the factory's involvement. This operation underscores the rising trend of synthetic drug misuse in industrial settings and the DRI's ongoing efforts to combat it.
