In a significant development, the Madhya Pradesh Police have officially registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Shiv Sena MP, Sanjay Raut. The action follows allegations that Raut made misleading remarks about the state's prominent Ladli Behna Yojana.
The complaint, lodged by BJP's Mahila Morcha district unit president Vandana Jachak and vice president Sushma Chouhan, pushed the Bhopal crime branch to take this step. Deputy Commissioner of Police Akhil Patel confirmed this move to PTI on Wednesday evening.
The Opposition MP has been booked under sections 353 (2) and 356 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for allegedly circulating false information and defamation. The FIR claims that Raut's statement incorrectly suggested the initiative's closure to malign Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's reputation.
