The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has tightened its grip on the Tamil Nadu Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT) case by arresting a key suspect, Faizul Rahman. The arrest marks a significant development in the case concerning the dissemination of anti-India rhetoric and secessionist ideologies in Puducherry.
Rahman, identified as a 'nakib' or state 'amir' of HuT, was detained in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. He becomes the seventh individual to be held by the NIA as part of this investigation, with officials alleging his deep involvement in the group's activities.
According to the NIA spokesperson, Rahman and his associates allegedly engaged in secretive campaigns promoting secessionism while seeking military support from Pakistan to liberate Kashmir. The group's strategies included using encrypted communications and social media to spread their radical ideologies and to undermine democratic processes such as voting, labeling them 'un-Islamic.'
