Russia Thwarts Ukrainian Drone Assault on Western Regions
Russia's air defence units destroyed 47 Ukrainian drones targeting its western territories, with no reported casualties. The drones were downed across multiple regions, including Bryansk and Belgorod. A fire in Rostov was quickly extinguished. Russian reports often lack full disclosure of the damage from such attacks.

Russia's air defence units reported the successful destruction of 47 Ukrainian drones aimed at its western regions, according to the defence ministry on Wednesday. Officials confirmed there were no casualties following these incidents.
Of the drones intercepted, 24 were downed over the Bryansk border region, with the remainder destroyed across Belgorod, Kursk, Rostov, and Krasnodar, as well as over the Sea of Azov. A resultant fire ignited by falling debris in Rostov, close to the Ukraine border, was quickly extinguished, reported regional governor Vasily Golubev on the Telegram messaging platform.
Bryansk's leader, Aleksander Bogomaz, acknowledged ongoing emergency services operations at debris sites but did not specify any damage. Reuters has not independently verified these reports, and there was no immediate Ukrainian response. Russian authorities often withhold comprehensive damage reports from Ukrainian attacks.
