On Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Police detained fifteen individuals accused of spearheading an unauthorized protest against Yati Narsinghanand, a controversial priest, in Meerut's Mundali area. The protest, held on Monday, swiftly turned chaotic as demonstrators reportedly assaulted police officers, despite their efforts to manage the crowd.
Authorities alleged that the protest, organized by Haseen and involving approximately 200 participants, featured sticks and swords and heightened religious tensions. The demonstrators reportedly resorted to verbal abuse and attempts to physically confront the police, complicating the officers' duties at the scene.
The incident prompted extensive policing efforts, including the filing of an FIR against 180 individuals. Following stone-pelting reports, Meerut's Senior Superintendent of Police directed local officers to take decisive action. This led to the arrest of key figures, including Nawazish, Zubair, and others.
