In a significant operation against drug trafficking, Assam Rifles seized heroin and methamphetamine tablets worth nearly Rs 62 crore in Mizoram's Champhai district on Tuesday.

The first raid in the Zote area resulted in the confiscation of 284 grams of heroin valued at Rs 1.99 crore and the arrest of one person. A second operation in Melbuk, near the Myanmar border, uncovered 200,000 methamphetamine tablets worth Rs 60 crore, leading to the arrest of two people.

The apprehended individuals and the confiscated drugs have been handed over to the state police and the excise and narcotics department, according to an official statement.
