Mexican Judiciary Reform: President Sheinbaum Stands Firm
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has confirmed the completion of a judiciary reform that includes electing judges through popular vote. This comes despite the Supreme Court's decision to review a challenge against the reform, which Sheinbaum insists will not hinder its implementation.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced on Tuesday that a comprehensive judiciary reform is complete. This reform, which introduces the popular election of judges, will move forward despite recent developments from the Supreme Court agreeing to hear a challenge against it.
Sheinbaum remained resolute, stating, "The reform is happening," and emphasized that the upcoming challenge in the top court will not alter the course of the overhaul.
The proposed changes aim to increase transparency and public involvement in the judicial process, a move that has sparked widespread debate and legal scrutiny.
