In a shocking case, a woman has been detained for allegedly abducting her tenant's three-year-old son to satisfy her brother and sister-in-law's wish for a male child, according to authorities.

The toddler was found and safely returned to his family in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh.

This came to light after a missing person's report was filed by the child's father on October 4 at the Kamla Market police station, officials revealed.

After an FIR was filed, multiple police teams initiated a search operation for the missing child, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) M Harsha Vardhan confirmed in a press briefing.

Investigations led to CCTV footage that showed a person walking with the child towards Gandhi Market, reported officials.

A teenage boy was soon identified and questioned about the incident.

The teenager confessed that under his mother's direction, he took the young boy to Amroha and handed him over to his aunt.

Further interrogation revealed the woman's sister-in-law, a mother to two daughters, longed for a son, leading to the conspiracy to kidnap the child, narrated police sources.
