Protests Escalate: Allianz Offices Targeted by Pro-Palestinian Activists
Pro-Palestinian activists protested against Allianz's association with Israeli defence firm Elbit Systems by vandalizing its British offices. Coinciding with Gaza conflict's anniversary, protests expanded to include using red paint to symbolize bloodshed, targeting global financial institutions like Allianz and Barclays, and defence firms linked to Israel.
In a bold protest against the German financial services giant, Allianz, pro-Palestinian activists defaced its UK offices on Tuesday, marking buildings with red paint to protest the firm's ties with Israeli defence entity Elbit Systems.
Claiming responsibility on social media platform X, Palestine Action stated it had targeted 10 Allianz locations, including an 'occupation' of its UK headquarters in Guildford. The activists claim that without Allianz, Elbit cannot operate in Britain.
The protest coincides with the Gaza war anniversary, initiated by Hamas in 2023. Authorities reported a 19-year-old was arrested for vandalism in a foot chase. Allianz, while confirming disruptions, affirmed that their service remained unaffected amid ongoing police investigations.
