Police in Gujarat's Surat city seized mephedrone worth Rs 35 lakh and apprehended a man involved in drug trafficking, officials announced on Tuesday.
The Special Operations Group (SOG) detained Asif Sheikh at a public location, recovering 352 grams of the illegal substance, according to a press statement.
Investigations revealed that the accused, struggling with unemployment, resorted to drug dealing. He partnered with a Mumbai-based supplier and recently collected the drugs for sale in Surat. Sheikh faces charges under the NDPS Act as investigations proceed.
