In response to Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Poland announced plans to strengthen its borders with Russia and Belarus by the end of 2024, a deputy defence minister revealed on Friday.
The government has allocated 10 billion zlotys ($2.6 billion) for this initiative, which includes fortifications, surveillance, reconnaissance, and anti-drone systems, aiming for completion by 2028.
Poland is collaborating with Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, along with British and American forces, to enhance its defence capabilities as it increases military spending to 4.2% of GDP in 2024, rising to a planned 4.7% by 2025.
