After 18 months of relentless warfare, Sudan's conflict is intensifying. As the rainy season concludes, the country's military escalates airstrikes to counter the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), preparing for a likely offensive. This violence further worsens an already critical humanitarian crisis, with famine confirmed and over 10 million displaced.

A senior Western diplomat, requesting anonymity, anticipates increased fragmentation and armed group involvement, complicating the situation further. Despite the RSF's previous dominance, the army has launched a significant offensive in Khartoum, advancing strategically across a key Nile bridge.

Conflict also rages in Darfur and other regions, with displaced groups joining forces to resist RSF advances. Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation remains grim, with disease and starvation rampant amid limited aid delivery. International attention remains scarce, despite calls to halt external support for warring factions.
