The World Health Organization has urged Israel to schedule a ceasefire to facilitate the second phase of a crucial polio vaccination campaign in Gaza, set to commence on October 14.
Ayadil Saparbekov, WHO's emergency lead in the Palestinian territory, disclosed ongoing negotiations for a meeting on Sunday, seeking collaboration similar to the 'tactical pauses' previously applied.
Such pauses in fighting during working hours were instrumental in carrying out the first phase of vaccinations, and WHO hopes for a repetition of this strategy.
