In a grim turn of events, central Haiti witnessed a brutal attack by gang members early Thursday, with several fatalities reported by authorities.
According to government official Venson François, speaking from Saint-Marc, where the injured were transported, the full scale of the Pont-Sondé massacre remains unclear. The Grand Grif gang, infamous for its brutality, is held responsible for the onslaught.
Community members, outraged by the perceived inefficacy of local security efforts, gathered outside the hospital demanding more protection. This incident marks a troubling expansion of gang violence beyond Port-au-Prince into the Artibonite region.
