In a bold demonstration, members of the Christian community lined up along a 130-kilometer stretch in Chhattisgarh's Jashpur district on Thursday. Their aim was to demand action against BJP legislator Raymuni Bhagat, whose remarks on Jesus Christ and religious conversions sparked outrage.
The demonstrators peacefully connected hands from Pathalgaon to Lodum, making a significant statement against Bhagat, according to the Christian Adivasi Mahasabha state president Anil Kumar Kispotta. An alleged video of Bhagat's objectionable comments had prompted community members to demand police intervention.
The BJP member, however, refrained from apologizing, challenging protesters to present "valid certificates" proving their religious affiliation. While she termed the human chain a "flop show," protestors remain determined, threatening further action unless their concerns are addressed by authorities.
