Mumbai authorities have taken legal action against almost 30 participants of a candlelight protest march that occurred without official permission in the Govandi area, following the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon due to an Israeli airstrike.

The protest, which took place on Tuesday evening, flouted prohibitory orders issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) in September. Demonstrators marched between Imamwada and Bainganwadi localities, chanting slogans supporting Palestine and denouncing Israel, according to police reports.

A 36-year-old policeman reported receiving a protest video via WhatsApp, which showcased participants carrying Nasrallah posters. The Shivaji Nagar police have charged seven identified individuals and approximately 20 unidentified people for disobedience under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Maharashtra Police Act.
